Learn everything you need to know about Credit Notes.
Credit notes can be used when you want to apply a credit to a customers account, for a variety of reasons. Currently, it will automatically apply to the oldest, open invoice for that customer.
Create
To create a credit note, go into Billing > Posted > '+ Create' > select Credit Note
From here, you'll enter the required information before posting the Credit Note.
Apply
To apply a credit note, select Apply on the right and it will open up a Receive Payment screen.
The Credit Note will be green and showing 'Applied.' You will select the invoice/s to apply on the left side by selecting the relevant boxes. You can also select a payment method like a regular invoice payment if the credit note is not covering the total. You'll be asked to enter a reference number, which can be the Credit Note number. You'll then select Save on the bottom right to apply the Credit Note.
If you ever need to, you can always void a Credit Note by selecting the 3 dots on the right like in the image below.
Automated Credit Notes
Sometimes the system will auto generate a Credit Note. This will be shown in the Credit Note description line. For example, if a larger payment was taken then was due. Then an auto generated Credit Note would be created to the value of the remaining amount due.
