What are Locations?

Currently in CurbWaste, we have the concept of Customers, which contain all relevant Customer information such as billing address, emails, etc. and Orders, which link directly to your Customers. Orders have their own attributes, such as service address, product size, and pricing, but this information only exists at the Order level. The purpose of Locations is to break out service addresses from Orders into its own structure that exists between Customers and Orders so that you can:

  • Aggregate data and billing
  • Increase flexibility for billing and order management
  • Reduce repetitive data entry
  • Scale more efficiently

Creating Locations

Locations can be created in one of two ways:

  1. You can create Locations at the point of Order creation.
  2. You can create Locations within any Customer profile at any time.

Orders

As mentioned above, Locations will replace the Service Address field on an Order. When you create an order, you will be given the choice to select an existing Location or to create a new one.

Location Name is optional and replaces the current Address Nickname field.

On the Orders page, service addresses are now hyperlinked and will bring you to the Locations landing page.

Customers

Within each Customer profile, there is now a section for Locations where you can create, edit, and update Locations.

When orders are entered into CurbWaste, Locations will start populating in this section with summary information about the number of containers, active orders, and total orders at each Location.

Clicking the kebab menu on any Location will bring up the order form with customer and location filled in.

In addition, when you create a new customer and check the box under Billing Address, the system will create a Location using this address.

Configuring Locations

Basic Information

  • Location Name: Similar to an address nickname, the Location Name will appear on the orders, invoices, and reports and is a searchable field on the Orders page.
  • Location Address: This is the only required field when creating a new Location and is powered by Google Maps.
  • Location Status: You can set a Location as Active, Inactive, Hold, or Do Not Service. Orders cannot be created using Inactive Locations.

  • LEED Required?: If you select yes, all orders created with this Location will have a green LEED label that's visible on the order form, in Dispatch, and in the CurbWaste Driver App.

  • PO Required?: If you select yes, all orders created with this Location will require a PO number.
  • PO Number: This setting will pre-populate orders created at this Location with a PO number.

Note: Location Addresses can be modified, even after the Location has been created. Navigate to the Location landing page and click Edit Location.

Location-level Settings

Payment Policy

As you know, each Customer can be assigned only one Payment Policy. Now you will have the ability to configure each Location with its own Payment Policy, which supersedes the Payment Policy set at the Customer level, in the event that your Customer(s) have different billing requirements for different jobs. For example, a Customer’s residential job might be require payment up front, but their commercial job requires a monthly bill. This can be accomplished by selecting/creating a Payment Policy for each distinct Location.

The Location's Payment Policy may be the same as the customer's or different. If a Payment Policy is assigned to the Location, orders for that location will be included in a separate invoice from all other customer invoices.

Tax Rate, Credit Card, Price Lists

Unlike with Payment Policies, Customers can be configured with multiple Tax Rates, Credit Cards, and Price Lists. With Locations, you are able to configure them at the Location level. This will allow you to create orders more quickly since only the configured Tax Rate, Credit Card, and/or Price List will be selectable when creating an order at that Location.

Locations Landing Page

Within the Locations landing pages, you have the ability to manage orders, inventory, and default settings.

Overview

  • Date Range: This will allow you to see only orders serviced over a specific date range. The Total Orders, Active Orders, and On-Site Containers counts will update as the date is changed.
  • Contacts: You can create/designate a Primary On-Site Contact, which will pre-populate all orders created with this Location.
  • Location Notes: You can set the default Location Note that will pre-populate orders created with this Location.
  • Attachments: You can set the default attachment(s) that will automatically be added to orders created with this Location.
  • Create Orders: Creating orders from the Locations landing page will pre-populate the Customer and Location fields in the order form.
  • Labels: You have the ability to label your Locations, much like with Orders.

Location Services (Routing)

If you have Commercial Routing or Residential Routing enabled in your account, you will see a section in the Location landing pages titled Location Services, which contain pertinent billing and operational details associated with that Location. Click on the arrow next to the waste stream to expand the section.

Orders

Within the Orders tab of Locations, you have the same functionality as on the Orders page. You can copy/edit orders, create Relocations/Round Trip/Exchange/Removal orders, and search/filter for orders.

Containers

The Containers tab of Locations functions similarly to the Inventory Management page. You can see the asset's days on site and add notes to specific assets.

Container Location

Container Location is a field on the order form that gives you an additional area to leave container-specific location notes.

These notes will also show in the Containers tab of Locations.
