Settle Orders vs. Needs Action

When do I use the Settle Orders tab vs. the Needs Action tab?

You may have noticed that in both the Settle Orders and Needs Action tabs, you are able to verify dumping information and "Complete" orders in CurbWaste. But why do we offer this flexibility?

In waste hauling organizations where roles are specialized, a billing person may not have visibility into the day-to-day operations but still needs to bill customers in a timely manner. Therefore, we have given that billing person the ability to verify dumping information and complete orders via the Needs Action tab. Aside from that, the Settle Orders and Needs Action tabs each have different purposes and functionalities.

Settle Orders

The main purpose of the Settle Orders tab is to verify dumping information filled out by your drivers. In addition to verifying the weight/volume, users can also add in other relevant information:

  • Dumpsite
  • Ticket #
  • Dumping Cost
  • Trucking Cost
  • Dump Ticket photo
  • Overload
  • Sustainability Information

These datapoints are optional but filling them out will provide you with more robust and informational reports.

Needs Action

The main purpose of the Needs Action tab is to review operational events that have billing implications occur on an order. Overage is just one of many events for which you may need to bill your customer. The other events include:

  • Trip Charge
  • Wait Time Charge
  • Unit Based SKU

Please see the Needs Action Tab Overview article for more in depth information.
